Open studio - Siân Tonkin Ceramics

Siân is a Birmingham based potter and ceramicist, she’s also a fellow Mum at the local school which made it extra special to work with her. I think it’s fair to say, that working Mum’s are the hardest kind of workers out there. In my experience having a child seems to trigger a flow of ideas and creativity like nothing else, which might have something to do with why so many women set up businesses after having a baby.

Siân has just launched her first collection of textured vessels and garden sculptures and I had the pleasure of not only photographing her work but sharing an open studio with her back in September. Her work is inspired by coastal landscapes and rock formations, thus creating, unique organic shapes.

They’re absolutely stunning.
